SAMBODHI RESEARCH & MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE – PGPM ADMISSIN 2011 – NEW DELHI

An MBA from a well-known business school has long been accepted as a qualification that fast tracks corporate careers to the executive suite. The recent financial crisis has however raised some doubts over the value-add that MBAs bring to business processes. Employers have begun to weigh the incremental value brought in by an MBA versus its costs. A challenging environment is probably the right opportunity to reinvent the MBA.

The PGPM from the Sambodhi Institute has been designed after a close examination of the MBA and equivalent courses being offered today. The programme combines theoretical knowledge of concepts with sensibilities required for effective implementation. The course develops a well rounded understanding of various dimensions of management while also allowing students to specialise in an area of choice.

What’s on offer :
The PGPM is a one-year full time programme that builds a strong foundation in concepts and principles of all aspects of Management. Courses constituting the PGPM curriculum are an intelligent mix of knowledge-based and skill-based subjects. Specifically, the course objectives are to:

* Situate students in the dynamics of contemporary business environment
* Illustrate the basic tenets of management
* Augment conceptual and analytical understanding of business processes
* Build understanding of the emergent issues and practices in management
* Develop specialized knowledge and skills in an area of choice
* Enable students to understand, adapt and steer through complex corporate situations

Course Structure & Pedagogy :
The one year PGPM is divided into two distinct terms. Term-I, spread over 24 weeks, comprises of core and compulsory courses that cover all essential aspects of management. The term is divided into four modules of 6 weeks each. The courses form the foundation for the elective courses in Term-II. The curriculum also includes specific programmes on corporate readiness that aim at individual personality development.

Pedagogy for the programme focuses on peer learning and practical exposure. Classroom discussions, brain storming sessions and student seminars are the primary learning methods aided by case studies. At the completion of Term-I, participants submit a 10000 word dissertation on the basis of project. The programme structure and curriculum is reviewed and upgraded annually for theoretical rigour and work relevance. Reviews are based on industry developments and student feedback.

Evaluation of student performance is carried out using multiple methods both during and at the end of the academic term. During the term, performance is assessed based on classroom participation, takehome assignments and seminars.
