The International Communications Industries Foundation (ICIF) is a non-profit charitable and educational organization chartered to support the audiovisual communications industry, bringing manufacturers and dealers together to improve the industry through education and research. The purpose of the scholarship is for dependents of employees or employees of member organizations to pursue a technical degree to be applied to an audiovisual career or to pursue an advanced degree to be applied to an audiovisual career.
Criteria : The scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis to dependents of employees or employees of InfoComm member organizations. To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must:
• Be a spouse, child, stepchild or grandchild of an employee of an InfoComm member organization or an employee of an InfoComm member organization in good standing at the time of application.
• Awarded one-time only to 3rd or 4th year students of 4-year degree, 2nd year students of 2-year degree programs or graduate school candidates.
• Have a minimum grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) verified by a transcript from college attended.
o The application requires the most current and available college transcripts.
Rules :
o Transcripts must be official transcripts and should be sent directly from each school attended to ICIF.
o Where GPA is not based on a four point scale please provide an explanation or equivalent.
• Provide two letters of recommendation.
o A recommendation from a college faculty or administrator on letterhead.
o A recommendation from a current/previous employer on letterhead. Students who have not been employed and are unable to furnish a letter from a current/previous employer must furnish an additional letter of recommendation from a college faculty or administrator.
• Be majoring in audiovisual related fields, such as audio, video, audiovisual, radio/television/film or another major related to careers in the audiovisual industry at an accredited post-secondary institution as a full-time or substantial part-time (minimum 9 credit hours) student where you plan to complete your degree. (Please note that students in other majors may be considered provided they can demonstrate a relationship to career goals in the audiovisual industry. For example, journalism may be an appropriate field of study for a student interested in a career in AV sales.)
• Applicants’ experience will support their desire to work in the AV industry. Evidence of completing AV related courses offered by InfoComm or other educational providers, internships or jobs in the AV industry, attendance at the InfoComm show or other direct AV experience must be provided with this application.
Application Filing Deadline: Applications must be received by Friday, April 29, 2011.
Award Amount : $5000 (applicable for payment of tuition only) Awards will be sent to the school (not to students) and administered by ICIF and your college/university so that your tuition is prepaid by ICIF.
Other Benefits : Complimentary InfoComm student membership for one school year.
Selection and Award Procedures :
• Applicants will be notified of their award status via US Mail and/or email provided a current email address is provided (email is preferred). Awards are expected to be made by early June 2011 and the winners will be posted on the Scholarship web page at www.infocomm.org/scholarships. We encourage you to check the web page for updates.
• Scholarship awards are distributed once a verification form has been received from the recipient.
• The awards are typically divided into two payments of $2500 for each semester. Checks will be mailed for the first semester in August 2011. Second semester funds will be mailed upon receiving an updated verification form in January 2012.
