Ranchi science centre open for public

Ranchi: The Ranchi science centre, India's 25th science centre, was on Monday inaugurated by Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda.

Constructed at a cost of Rs.6.5 crore, the centre is spread over 13 acres of land. It has three galleries which boast of 3D interactive exhibits, scaled-down models, interactive panels, a mock coal mine and animations.

"We started work in 2006. We sought help from the National Council of Sciences and Museum (NCSM) which agreed to provide us all possible help in creating awareness about science and technology among people," Sudhir Prasad, Jharkhand science and technology department secretary, told reporters.

Munda expressed happiness over opening of the centre. "It will help students of the state in understanding about science and technology," he said.

The entry ticket is priced at Rs.10 while it has been kept at Rs.5 for students. IANS
