Royal Society of Chemistry opens Bangalore office

Bangalore: The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) opened its fourth international office here on Tuesday, hoping to contribute to "research excellence" and develop deeper scientific links between India and Britain.

"This is a natural extension of our long-standing link with India. As India's remarkable growth as a nation continues, chemistry and related-sciences will play a leading role in developing society, providing innovative solutions for challenges in energy, health, agriculture, climate change and sustainability," RSC Chief Executive Richard Pike said here.

The RSC's office in Bangalore is its third international office after its branches in Beijing, Shanghai and Philadelphia.

Welcoming the opening of the RSC office, British High Commission's knowledge economy counsellor Andrew Jackson said it will play a role in Britain's enhanced relationship with India.

"The RSC will promote a wide range of collaboration with Indian partners, including in areas of research excellence," Jackson said. IANS
