Salary : £25,001 per annum
Anticipated Interview Date : Monday 4 October 2010.
Contract Duration : Available for nine months.
Duties : Undertake research activities with regard to the gathering of legal material related to human exploitation. Such research will be desk-top and may include field work. Create a web-based database and populate it with material presented in an easily accessible manner. Evaluate the material within the context of the area of human exploitation. Carry out routine administrative duties required of the project. Survey academic papers, journals and textbooks to keep abreast of the area of human exploitation and bring these to the attention of the grant holder. Carry out any other duties designated by the grant holder and line manager which fall within the general ambit of the post.
Desirable Criteria :
1. Successfully completed module(s) in qualitative or quantitative research design.
2. Completed PhD (or having passed the PhD viva, awaiting the award of PhD) in the Social Sciences (including law) or humanities, preferably in International Law or related to issues of human exploitation.
3. Demonstrable research interest in issues of trafficking in human beings.
4. Previous Research Assistant experience.
5. Grant application writing skills/ experience.
6. Fluency in French or Spanish.
