BANGALORE – CHALLENGE OF CODE CONTEST 2010 – ACM

ACM Bangalore is excited to launch “Challenge of Code” which will celebrate and award innovative and quality projects in the open source domain. We have partnered with Intuit which provides the Brainstorm portal for the participants to share project ideas,form teams and work on the projects as a team.The two month development period would be followed by a Felicitation which will be a great opportunity to participate in ACM Bangalore Quiz, listen to experts in the field and network with like minded people.

It is the Annual Open Source programming Challenge organized by ACM Bangalore in association with its multiple sponsors to foster the spirit of innovation and creative problem solving amongst the IT community and student community in Bangalore.

Aim : To provide programming challenges and to give life to the innovative project ideas of the participating organizations by leveraging the huge potential of the individual developers and programmers.

How does the Program Work :
• Organizations can submit ideas online at http://ideas.intuit.in
• Partcipating organization should assign a Project Manager to administer the project
• ACM Bangalore will notify the project manager of acceptance
• Selected organizations can create their projects on Intuit’s Brainstorm platform
• Individual developers and programmers than vote on the Intuit platform to work with a particular organization leading to the formation of teams
• If the organization finds the individual competent enough to work on the project then the organization invites the individual to work on the project and the participants are notified of acceptance
• Participants get familiar with the organizations they would be working with
• Participants start working with the concerned organization on the official start date of the challenge
• ACM Bangalore will provide the platform for the participants to work
• Participants and organizations give midterm gate reviews and evaluations
• Final work will be reviewed by the judges selected by ACM Bangalore team and the best entries will be awarded as determined in the sole discretion of the Judges.

Eligibility: Open to all the organizations with a Challenge they are seeking solution for. All the Challenges have to be Open Source projects. Any individual(student or professional) passionate about providing solutions to the Challenges and working on innovative ideas.

Timeline:
Sept 1- Sept 20 – Open for proposals from organizations to post Challenges
Sept 21-sept 30 – Vote/form teams
Oct 1st – Nov 30th –Work on Challenges –Project Management System would be provided
21st Oct: Review/Evaluation 1
15th Nov: Review/Evaluation 2
Dec 18th – (Quiz +Felicitation)

Prizes :
1st Prize: Rs. 1 lakh
2nd Prize: Rs. 50,000
3rd Prize: Rs. 25,000
