INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT EDUCATION – PGDM ADMISSION 2010 – GHAZIABAD

The two-year full time Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is the flagship programme of the Institute. The programme aims at developing the skills and capabilities of young future managers to enable them to reach responsible global positions in management.

Objective : The main objectives of this programme are to:
* enable students to develop a global vision
* develop interpersonal and cross cultural teamwork competencies
* build capability to anticipate and manage change
* develop conceptual as well as analytical competencies
* sharpen communication and presentation skills
* develop an appreciation for ethical values
* prepare students to take decisions under risk and uncertain environment
Course Structure : The first year students are exposed to core courses to familiarize them with basic concepts in the areas of Marketing, Finance, Human Resources Management, Quantitative methods, Operations and Behavioral Sciences. In the second year, students specialize in functional areas of their interest. There is greater emphasis on the application of knowledge gained in the form of projects, group exercises and case discussions. Guest lectures supplement regular course work while the core courses of Business Policy and Strategy integrate the learning gained from the first year. Students are encouraged to take up dissertation work and to do a project on ‘Contemporary Concerns’ under the guidance of faculty.

Duration : The PGDM programme is of two years duration, which comprises four semesters, with a summer project after the completion of first year.

Summer Internship : At the end of the second semester, each student is required to undergo a summer training of six to eight weeks duration in the industry by undertaking a real life project. Two mentors, one each from the Institute and from the industry are assigned to every student. During the time of summer training, progress of each student is monitored by the Institute. After the successful completion of the project, students have to prepare a project report and are evaluated on the basis of a presentation on the project and a viva-voce before a panel of experts.
