GURGAON – INTERNATIONAL PARENTING CONFERENCE 2010 – SUNCITY SCHOOL

The conference is on experience sharing format and speakers are invited for the same. We are not looking for research papers for this conference.

Specific objectives of the conference are to:
* Create awareness among various stakeholders (parents, teachers, policy makers, experts) about importance of effective parenting.
* Provide new and relevant information and skill development for parents.
* Provide a forum to assist in the development of networks between people and organisations working with parents.
* Create a platform for people and institutions to learn from each other’s experiences, strengths and questions.
* Bring together a range of people and organizations who have delved deeply into issues related to raising happy kids.
* Find ways to influence policy formulation and decision making at local, state and national levels to create effective programmes for kids and parents. We also feel that the conference should address specific areas of parenting e.g. parenting children with difficulty, Single parenting, and parenting after family break-up, etc.
Theme: Building happy and connected families!
The sub-themes and detailed topics are being evolved; we would be happy to include suggestions. Focus is on experiential sharing on these rather than just theories!

Organisers: Organized by Atmachetna – an organization focused on parenting. Atmachetna came into existence to bring much needed clarity in parent-child relationships and help parents understand their kids better and also help teens understand their parents well ; thereby leading to happy families.

Conference Date & Venue: 13-14 Aug 2010, Suncity School, Gurgaon, India

Registration: The conference is limited to 250 participants per day. We would prefer a healthy mix of parents, teachers, school leaders, experts and policy makers for effective discussions.Preference would be given to parents. Registration would be on first-come-first serve basis. The conference would have a nominal charge per person. We are working out details and would upload the same.
