NEW DELHI – KHORANA PROGRAM ADMISSION FOR SCHOLARS – UW MADISON

Introduction: The University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW), the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India and Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF) are partnering to support the prestigious Khorana Program for Scholars named in honor of Dr. Har Gobind Khorana, who won the Nobel Prize in 1968 for his work at the interface of chemistry and biology while a member of the UW faculty. The program will pay all expenses for 15 Indian students to travel to UW-Madison to engage in a hands-on research project. Indian students will be matched with a UW-Madison faculty member based on what type of project they would like to work on. This is an excellent opportunity to apply lab skills in an indepen­dent environment. At the end of the program, students will present their projects at a symposium.

Program Dates: The Khorana Program will provide opportunity to Indian students to undertake research at University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW) in Summer 2010 for a period of 10 weeks from May 19-July 31, 2010.
Eligibility: B.Tech, M.Tech, and M.Sc. students currently enrolled in recognized institution of higher education in India The areas of Biotechnology, including agricultural, health, genetics, chemistry, biochemistry and biomedical sciences. This program is not open to PhD students or those who have already graduated. Please do not contact faculty at UW-Madison, we will arrange for internships when finalists are selected.

Admission Procedure: Application deadline is 30 November 2009 at 16:30 India time. No extensions will be granted. Please be aware that large numbers of last minute applications may be rejected by the email server. We advise you to apply well before the deadline to assure we receive your application.
