JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW ADMISSION 2009 – DELHI UNIVERSITY

Introduction: Applications are invited for JRF (4 positions) in the Salary range of Rs. 12000 + HRA (30%) fixed to work on a sponsored research project entitled “River Dynamics and Flood Risk Evaluation of the Kosi River, North Bihar Plains: An Integrated Approach” supported by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India. The position will be based in IIT Kanpur (2 positions), Delhi University (1 position) and IIT Mumbai (1 position).

Qualification: The candidates should have M.Sc./M.Tech. degree in Geology/Applied Geology/Applied Geophysics or B.Tech. degree with two years experience. Students with experience in water resources, fluvial systems and/or remote sensing, GIS analysis will be given preferences.
Nature of work: JRF1 and JRF 2 (one each at Delhi University and IIT Kanpur) – field and desktop based geomorphological mapping, remote sensing and GIS based analysis, measurements in the laboratory and working with mathematical models for hydraulics. JRF3 (IIT Kanpur) Flume based experiments and hydraulic model study. JRF4 (IIT Mumbai) GPS based field mapping, analysis of 3D surface.

Duration: 3 years (Renewable Yearly)
