EXECUTIVE PGDM ADMISSION 2009 – NEW DELHI – APIM

Introduction: The revolution in communications, information technology and transportation has changed the way we do business. The market is open and competition is fierce. Organizations need to stay abreast of the latest strategies and techniques to survive and grow. They are hard pressed to find the people who have the right conceptual foundations, analytical skills and application abilities to help them attain and maintain the crucial competitive edge – managers who can lead from the front. Not only is this true for business organizations, but also for non-profit bodies and government undertakings, who also have to market themselves against competing demands for support and resources. The Executive Post Graduate Diploma in Management – E-PGDM – programme has been designed to fulfill this vital need. The programme takes a holistic approach, helping to create complete managers, who can balance the needs of various stakeholders – customers, owners and society at large. The advantage is that the students can pursue their work/ other activities without quitting their jobs, and can pursue the course in their personal time.

Course Structure: The E-PGDM Programme is spread over a period of three years (700 contact hours) and is divided into nine terms (trimesters). The papers in the first three terms provide a balanced foundation in the basic areas of management. There are three core papers (30 contact hours each) per term. The fourth and fifth terms (180 contact hours total) cover six core papers which provide further insight into advanced aspects of management, keeping in mind emerging industry needs. One more core paper each is covered in sixth to eighth Terms (90 hrs.) The students opt for five elective papers (total 150 hours) in terms sixth to eighth from their area of specialization. The students also have to analyze a number of business cases in their chosen area and make presentations on the same. Short term courses may be offered on audit basis to provide exposure to relevant subjects of topical interest.
Career Prospects: There is a huge demand worldwide for qualified professionals from established institutes. On completing the course, the students can take up higher responsibilities in their own chosen area of management. Opportunities abound in multinational/ national business houses, in NGOs, in government/ public sector organizations – growth for a management professional is limited only by individual ambition and efforts.
