IGNOU, TERI join hands for Conference on Digital Libraries

New Delhi: Prof. V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai, Vice-Chancellor of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has invited all distance learners' community and institutions, like State Open Universities and Distance Education Institutions (DEIs/ CCIs), to come together and contribute their views on the theme of the upcoming International Conference on Digital Libraries (ICDL).

IGNOU has approved to get associated as a partner with TERI, which is conducting the event and would also be co-hosting the "International Conference on Digital Libraries" and its "Tutorials and Workshop".

The 3rd three-day International Conference on Digital Libraries (ICDL) would be held on IGNOUs' Silver Jubilee year from February 23, 2010 and the theme of the meet would be "Shaping the Information Paradigm".

"Few numbers of participant shall be nominated by IGNOU as delegates of ODL system without any registration fees," announced Prof. Pillai.

The participation of IGNOU in the event would act as an aid in strengthening its arena in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), web based methodologies, and digitalization for offering flawless access to all, comprising even those that are still not reached by the development of a national resource centre.

There would be special conference sessions and tutorials during the event devoted on the theme related aspects to the technologies applicable in open and distance education system.

Apart from the other enclosed aspects, the event would specially focus on web-based methodologies in teaching and learning, academic programmes information services, multi-media content, m-learning, open archive initiatives & open educational resources, e-learning and e-resource management, and virtual support to distance learners.
