Reserved category students face problems due to lack of result CDs

New Delhi: Students who belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) are facing problems regarding submission of admission forms of Delhi University (DU).

All these students have to submit their original certificates with their admission forms, while other students have to submit their original certificates on June 26.

SC/ST students from states like Bihar, Rajasthan, Uttaranchal, Madhya Pradesh and students from Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) are facing problems in this regard because not all these boards and institutes have submitted their result CDs to DU, which is causing problems for the students.

Several of students from SC/ST categories have been approaching to the office of the dean, student's welfare since June 1.

"We can not accept the downloaded certificates as the boards have issued a disclaimer that they are not responsible for any error in the certificates. So how can we accept the printouts?'' said S K Vij, Dean DSW.

CBSE, ICSE and state boards of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Nagaland have submitted their CDs for the benefit of the students.

"There are two ways, either the students show their original certificates or get it verified from the respective state's resident commissioners in Delhi. We at DSW would have verified and attested the certificates had the CDs been furnished to us," said Gurpreet Tuteja, deputy dean of DSW.

"We had a meeting with all the resident commissioners before the admission process started and have again sent a reminder to all of them. It is unfortunate, but the students are suffering due to the callous attitude of their respective states,''added Tuteja.
