Lacs of aspirant get ready for IIT-JEE 2009

New Delhi: Come April 12 and lacs of aspirants across the country will appear for the Joint Entrance Exam, 2009 to get admission into the elite Indian Institute of Technology (IITs).

IIT-JEE is rated as one of the most demanding entrance examinations for any student aspires to become an engineer.
Joint Entrance Exam is conducted by the IIT every year for admissions to undergraduate courses offered by several IITs situated in different parts of the country.

All these IITs are situated at Bhubaneshwar, Bombay, Delhi, Chennai, Roorkee, Kharagpur, Kanpur, Patna, Gandhinagar, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Indore and Rajasthan along with Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, and Indian School of Mines University (ISMU), Dhanbad, accept JEE score for admission to undergraduate courses.

Previous year 3.11 lakh students appeared for IIT-JEE.

The number of seats has increased this year owing to the new IITs and Other Backward Class (OBC) reservation making the seat to student ratio 1: 54.

Out of total 15, two IITs at Indore and Himachal Pradesh will commence from this year. There are 120 seats in each of the two IITs. IIT-Indore will be mentored by IIT-Bombay, while IIT-Delhi will mentor IIT-Himachal Pradesh.
