New Delhi: As a part of its continuous endeavour to encourage meritorious students, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has introduced two cash awards: University School Annual Toppers and University Programme Annual Toppers.
Under the scheme for University School Annual Toppers, students securing first, second and third positions in the academic programmes conducted at University School of Studies (USS) and GGSIPU's constituent college, Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT), will be given a cash prize of Rs.15,000, Rs.10,000 and Rs.5,000 respectively, along with a Certificate of Merit, on an annual basis.
There will be one award for a sanctioned intake of upto 60 seats, two for an intake upto 180 seats and three awards will be given where the sanctioned intake of students is more than 180.
The eligibility for the award will be decided on the basis of total weighted marks obtained the students during two semesters in each academic year.
Similarly, the top position holders in all academic programmes conducted at USS, IGIT, Centers of Learning and all institutes affiliated to the University will be awarded cash prizes of Rs.15,000, Rs.10,000 and Rs.5,000, annually, as a part of the scheme for University Programme Annual Toppers.
Under this particular scheme as well, there will be one award for a sanctioned intake of upto 60 seats, two for an intake of upto 180 seats and three awards will be given where the sanctioned intake of students is more than 180 seats.
The merit list will be prepared on the basis of total weighted marks obtained by the students during two semesters in each academic year.
Furthermore, in its existing scholarship scheme for students belonging to economically weaker sections of the society, the University has revised the family income slab from 60,000 per annum to Rs. 1 lakh for the applicants, so that more number of deserving candidates can benefit from the scholarship programme.
