Medical College for Women to come up in Haryana

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda has announced that a Medical College for Women will be setup at the Bhagat Phool Singh University, Khanpur Kalan, in the Sonepat district.

Hooda was speaking at the centenary celebrations of Jagadguru Swami Brahmanand at the old Anaj Mandi here, organized by the Ror Sabha.

The Chief Minister maintained that Swami Brahmanand had worked tirelessly in the area of Karnal, Kurukshetra and Kaithal districts while Bhagat Phool Singh worked in Sonepat district to motivate women for education and setup a Gurukul for women in Khanpur Kalan village.

"The government has raised its status to the level of a university and it is now the first women university in northern India", Hooda said.

Hooda also announced that the Government Polytechnic, situated at Nilokheri, will be named after Jagadguru Swami Brahmanand and a sports stadium will also be setup in Kalheri village after the name of Shorya Chakra winner - Martyr Sultan Singh.

Mr. Hooda also sanctioned a grant of Rs.21 lakhs for the construction of Ror Dharamshala in Panchkula.
