IIM-A seeks alumni help for students' placements

Ahmedabad: Alumni of the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) are believed to have been requested by the institute to help in both lateral and final placements of students this year.

This decision has been taken by the institute in the backdrop of global economic meltdown which has affected placements of MBA students this year.

The lateral and final placements of IIM-A students are scheduled to start from January and March respectively.

The institute has written letters to the alumni members requesting them to support the institute in the placements of students.

"Letters to the alumni are sent in routine course every year as part of its extensive exercise to mobilize resources well before the beginning of placement sessions," said Srijan Pal Singh, general secretary of Student Affairs Council, IIM-A.

More than 120 students are likely to participate in the lateral placements at IIM-A.

"Lateral placements are scheduled to begin at IIM-A from January first week and students having more than 18 months work experience prior to joining the institute are eligible for it," added Singh
